Outdoor Maintenance Work Volunteer

 Leah's House is extremely grateful for the ongoing support of our volunteers. Their endless contributions of time and energy inspire us to continue our work bringing about hope and change for thousands of victims of homelessness and domestic violence every year.Holiday Food Basket VolunteerIf you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please complete our confidential volunteer application and submit the information to us.  You will alos need to complete the attached  clientimages/42097/childprotectiveservicesreleaseform.pdf   This form needs to be notarized.  This can be done at our office by appointment or you can have your own notary complete the appropriate section, and then you can forward the original showing the raised notary seal to our office.  

There is a background check on all volunteers and employees. We will contact you to begin your training and to find the right spot to utilize your skills. Thank you very much!

 
 

Some Volunteer Opportunities

Office VolunteerGeneral Office Assistance

We always need talented and creative people to assist with special projects, preparing mass mailings, and a variety of other tasks.

Computers

Volunteers are needed to assist us with creating spreadsheets, designing flyers, inputing data, and the like.  Installing software/hardware updates, and trouble shooting.

 Grant Writers

Grant writers we need you! Come join our team and help keep us going. If you are familiar with writing grants for non-profit organizations. We rely heavily on grants (small and large). So it's imperative that we meet the deadlines established by organizations that issues these grants

 

Yard Sale Volunteer

HandWork, Gardening, Lawn Care, and Landscaping

We have over 3 acres of land that are in constant need of care-taking and maintenance. We need volunteers to cut grass, clean out and maintain flower beds, and much, much more. We are in need of people who enjoy doing light indoor and outdoor maintenance and repair work.

 Special Events

Leah's House hosts many fundraisers throughout the year. Many opportunities for fund-raising exist and you are welcome to bring your own ideas. How about calling us so you can host an event at your job, home or church.

Resource Coordinators

Persons who are familiar with seeking resources, such as playground equipment, much needed fencing, gravel etc.

Volunteer Coordinators/Recruiters

Individuals that love people, have the gift to recruit and train people. Great opportunities exist for you!

Special Positions

Occasional Night Time House Monitors - (Immediate Opening!)
The responsibility as an on call night monitor is an excellent opportunity to work with women and children in need. This position is occasional when regular staff is away or on vacation.

Daytime House Monitors - (Immediate Opening!)
If you can dedicate just a few hours or days each week or as needed which may be as little as once a month then sign up. We are taking volunteers now.

Monitor Responsibilities
A monitor is expected to spend time in the common areas of the house interacting with the residents,House Monitor Volunteer assisting residents with daily responsibilities (i.e. meal preparation, chores, time management and conflict resolution skills).

Case Managers
Case management is a client-centered, goal oriented process for assessing clients' needs and helping them obtain the services needed to overcome barriers of housing and employment, and helping clients achieve long-term self-sufficiency. We employ a highly effective case management system linking services and resources to client needs and goals. Case managers build a relationship of mutual trust and respect with the client. Our experience has shown us that this relationship makes critical differences in client success.

Case managers should have comprehensive knowledge of clinical issues as presented by battered individuals and a good working knowledge of civil and criminal court system's response to domestic violence.  Strong oral and written skills required.  Strong counseling, advocacy, networking and crisis intervention skills required.  Must have knowledge of diverse community resources.  Sensitivity to battered women's issues and maturity.  Must be able to work as part of a team, maintaining a professional attitude and a respectful demeanor with clients.
