•Providing Shelter
At present, Leah's House provides shelter for woman and children in a large house leased by the organization. Leah's House has purchased a three plus acre property that will provide not only shelter but opportunities for job training, daycare, counseling services and space on-site for college level courses. The purchase was finalized in November 2007 and residents began living there in 2008.
•Sustainability
As part of its Sustainability Plan, this property was chosen because it also has the capacity to provide income to the organization through rental space and a small diner. The property is large enough and appropriately zoned to accommodate the building of another facility which Leah’s House looks forward to doing within the next five years as part of both the strategic and sustainability plans for the organization.
•Empowering Individuals
Leah's House is comprised of four educational and empowering modules so that these individuals learn the skills they need to lessen the likelihood that homelessness will be a factor in their lives in the future. Modules include information and classes on entering the workforce, domestic and substance abuse, referalls for therapy, and daily life skills.

Leah's House, Inc. (Leah's House) provides shelter and access to services for women and children in crisis, many of whom are victims of violence and/or abuse. Among the services provided through partnerships are emergency/transitional housing, education, training, counseling services, day care, job readiness, job search sevrices, life skills training, legal aid, food assistance, and clothing assistance. Leah's House provides partcipants the support, skills, and encouragement to create a more positive future, breaking the cycle of violence and homelessness for both women and their children.
Empowering these families begins the moment they make contact with Leah's House. An assessment of current needs and resources is made, at which point the woman and/or family are immediately connected with the provider who will address the most pressing need. in most cases, this is emergency or transitional shelter. Over the next few weeks and months, clients develop a plan of action with the help of a Case Manager and are connected with the other services providers required to help them make the transition from victim to survivor to individuals who have greater control over their own lives.
